This 1947-P Walking Liberty Half Dollar is the last ever Walking Liberty Half Dollar minted before the design for the half dollar was switched to the Franklin Half Dollar in 1948. Walking Liberty Half Dollars are known as one of the most iconic and recognizable coins of all time, and this LAST YEAR OF ISSUE piece makes a perfect addition to any coin collection. The First and Last years of issue for a coin are always highly desired by collectors!

In fact, the design is so popular that it was also used on the highly collectible modern day American Silver Eagle. Each of these pieces is in stunning, brilliant uncirculated condition, which is unbelievable considering that these coins were used for commerce! 1947 is also one of the lower mintage years in the Walking Liberty Half Dollar series. It doesn't get better than this at this low price!

1947 Walking Liberty Half Dollar

Pocket more than a pretty penny with the 1947 Walking Liberty Half Dollar coin. The coin was in circulation between 1916 to 1947 after which it became a collector's item. The incorporation of new editions over the years has meant Walking Liberty half dollar value varies but a rare year and gem condition can see a half dollar from this series worth thousands of dollars. Its evocative design and more collectible dissemination than rare mints make this coin a desirable acquisition.

An early 20th-century design

Collect a piece of history as the walking liberty silver half-dollar was designed by a well-known sculptor and engraver Adolph A. Weinman to replace the Barber coinage and before the Franklin half dollar came into circulation. The coin features an iconic image of Lady Liberty gliding through a sunrise landscape, representing a key period of American history that fits well in any U.S. numismatic collection.

Walking Liberty half dollar key dates

Find the rarest Walking Liberty half dollars with coins from a series of key dates. The 1916-S coin is probably the most difficult to source with a 508,000 piece mintage, as is a gem condition San Francisco issue of 1917-S. Other scarce dates include 1919-D, of which uncirculated editions have become rare, and the 1921-S edition, which has the lowest mintage in the series. Otherwise, anything before 1934 is very rare in uncirculated condition and it can sell for five figures at auction.

Walking Liberty half dollar value

Find a rare piece of silver by looking for an uncirculated Walking Liberty half dollar coin. Coins that are extremely fine or fine can also be valuable. Good condition coins can be bought for as low as $14. A coin graded MS-66 or MS-67 might see some slight wear and tear by way of minor marks or hairlines that can only be seen under magnification and these are valued anything in between $80 to $50,000 depending on the condition and type.
