Product Description
Between 1942 and 1945, the Nickel was struck in 35% silver as nickel was needed for the War! After 1945, no other nickels were struck in silver. This 1945-D is the last of the "Wartime Silver Nickels" and has been preserved in exceptional quality. Each piece has been graded in MS65 by PCGS, which is unbelievable considering many of these coins were used in everyday commerce. To add to the rarity of these coins, each has been hand signed by General George W. Casey Jr! He is a retired 4 Star General who was nominated by George W. Bush in 2007 to be the 36th Amry Chief of Staff to lead over 1,000,000 U.S. Troops in Iraq. He is the highest-ranking Military member to ever sign coins for either PCGS or NGC! He has been a lifelong coin collector himself and is proud to support the rare coin market!
