If you thought the Eisenhower Dollar had the shortest series in US coinage, think again! The Flying Eagle Cent was produced for just TWO YEARS! This is one of the shortest time frames that a U.S. Coin has ever been issued. Only 40 million coins were minted in total in that period, as compared to hundred of millions or even billions of pennies as seen today. This was the first ever small cent produced by the U.S. Mint. The previous Large Cent was discontinued as it simply cost too much to mint!
Collectors love the patriotic eagle on the obverse and the bundle of fall foliage on the reverse. These cents, because of their new smaller size, were incredibly popular because of how convenient they were to carry instead of the Large Cent. This piece is also incredible since it has been signed by Thomas Uram! Uram is president of the Pennsylvania Association of Numismatists and a previous member of the American Numismatic Association (ANA) Board of Governors. Add one of the most coveted cents ever with an exclusive signed label to your collection while you can!
