Product Description
One of the most memorable parts of European history, the tales of the crusades have been staples for centuries. Now is your chance to own a piece of coinage that survived through that tumultuous era! Imagine the stories this piece could tell.
Hugh IX was lord of the French counties of Lusignan, La Marche and Angouleme. In 1218, he embarked on the Fifth Crusade, falling in battle a year later in North Africa. The denier or penny was a medieval coin which takes its name from the Frankish coin first issued in the late seventh century. These are sometimes called silver pennies. These deniers were the sign of the end of common gold coinage, having silver become the standard for Frankish coins. Add this NGC certified authentic Denier with a Story-Card to your incredible coin collection!
